ENDSHEETS

WHERE the
PAGES
BEGIN

End sheets are the interior linings of your album – the pages you see when you first open, and finally close the book. They bridge the cover and the story inside and quietly set the tone before the images begin.

What endsheets offer

Endsheets frame the start and finish of the album, adding a moment of pause as the book opens and closes, creating a full client experience. They can be simple and understated, or carry more of the story through colour, texture, or design.

Types of endsheets

We offer four endsheet options so you can match both the project and your studio style: black watercolour paper endsheets, white watercolour paper endsheets, custom printed watercolour endsheets, and custom fabric-wrapped endsheets. Each option has a different look, feel, and file requirement. Use the comparison chart below to quickly see which type best suits your album.

PAPER-BASED
ENDSHEETS

Paper-based endsheets are printed designs bound directly into the album, like a full spread. They’re ideal for names and dates, a short quote or vows, a monogram, or a soft pattern that sets the tone. Printed using a Fine Art Giclée process on thick watercolour paper, they add a textured, fine art finish to the opening and closing pages.

DESIGN FLEXIBILITY

Because they’re printed, you can align them with your brand – mirroring your studio colours, invitation style, or album typography. They’re also a simple way to distinguish collections, with quieter designs for standard albums and more elaborate endsheets for premium offerings.

ENDSHEET

Set up
your file

Decide whether you’re designing a full-spread endsheet (front and back) or a ½-spread endsheet. Create your file at the same size as that album spread in sRGB, 300 DPI on a white background.

DESIGN
& EXPORT

Add text, patterns, or artwork and keep important details away from the edges, as you would on an album spread. When the layout is ready, flatten it and export as a high-quality JPEG (sRGB, 300 DPI), naming it clearly.

ENDSSHEET
& VELLUM

If you’re adding a vellum title page, add an extra 0.375" on the right side of the first endsheet and avoid placing important text or focal details there, as we often continue the design into that strip. If you’d prefer a solid strip instead, mention it in “SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS.”

fabric-BASED
ENDSHEETS

Fabric-based endsheets use bookbinding cloth wrapped onto boards and then adhered to the inside of the covers. They add structure, weight, and a tactile, crafted feel each time the album opens, similar to a traditional heirloom book.

WHEN TO CHOOSE FABRIC

This option suits fine art and editorial albums, or studio samples where you want the interior to feel as substantial as the cover. Because the fabric wraps around the boards, it’s important to use the provided templates and keep key details away from the wrap area. If you’re unsure whether fabric endsheets are available for a specific album line, you can confirm with us before finalising your design.

Set up
your file

Create your file at the same size as a ½ spread for your album, then add 1" on all sides for the wrap area. For convenience, you can start from our fabric endsheet templates for your album size.

Make your
design

Use the template guides and keep logos, text, and key details inside the visible/safe area, away from the 1" wrap zone and any indicated fold or board edges.

Export
your file

Flatten the design and export as a high-quality JPEG (sRGB, 300 DPI). Name clearly, e.g. Name_FabricEndsheet_Front.jpg / Name_FabricEndsheet_Back.jpg.

order details

how to
order

You can add both paper-based and fabric-based endsheets directly through the album order form.

1.Choose your endsheet type

In the endsheets section, select the option that applies to your album (paper-based or fabric-based, where available).

2.Upload your files

Add your endsheet design files (paper spread or fabric template) to your file-share link along with your album spreads.

3.Use “SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS”

If you have specific requests – such as using one design for both front and back, pairing endsheets with vellum, or confirming which endsheet type is available for a particular album – add a brief note in “SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS.”

4.logo imprint

If you’re also ordering a studio logo imprint, you can mention how you’d like the logo position to relate to your endsheet design. For example, keeping strong graphics away from the logo area or aligning key elements with the logo placement.

Tips & Best
Practices

TELL
THE STORY

Use endsheets to echo the album’s mood –soft designs for fine art weddings, bolder patterns for editorial or fashion-inspired work, or subtle branding elements for studio samples.

USE THE
SAFE ZONE

Avoid placing important text or focal points too close to the edges. Using the safe area in your spread or fabric template helps your design feel calm and intentional once trimmed and bound.

PLAN FOR
VELLUM

With vellum and custom endsheets, continuous patterns are easiest to adjust; for more unique designs, keep key text and focal details out of the right 0.375" of the first endsheet or choose a simple solid strip for that area.

Endsheets are the interior cover linings of the album, connecting the cover to the inside pages. They’re the surfaces you see when you first open and close the book.

We offer:

–Black paper endsheets
–White paper endsheets
–Custom paper endsheets
–Custom fabric endsheets (fabric-wrapped boards)

Available options may vary by album line, so please refer to the order form for what’s offered on each product. If the album you've selected does not have the option you are looking for, please mention it under "SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS", and we will let you know if it is possible.

Create your design at the same size as the album spread (full or ½ spread) in sRGB at 300 PPI. Keep important elements inside the safe area and away from the trim. If you’re pairing a custom endsheet with a vellum title page, add an extra 0.375" on the right side of the first endsheet so we can allow for the vellum strip without needing a wider file later.

Download the Fabric Endsheet Template for your album size, design within the safe area, and follow the instructions in the file regarding the 1" wrap margin and export settings.

No. Front and back endsheets can be different, but we recommend keeping them visually related – using the same colour palette, motif, or typography – for a cohesive experience.

In most cases, endsheets fall within our standard album production turnaround. If your order is time-sensitive or includes multiple embellishments, we recommend contacting us so we can confirm timing.

When a custom endsheet and vellum title page are used together, we often continue the endsheet design into the 0.375" vellum strip. To avoid cutting off text, please keep important wording and focal elements out of this area. If you’d prefer a solid strip instead of artwork there, let us know in “SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS.”
